Holy smokes! It feels so good to not be pregnant anymore. I can finally move around and go on walks and bend over and do all the things I missed doing with ease. I’ve been moving around non-stop every day just because I can! It’s funny- the things that you miss.
Riley has been a nursing champion… and then there was today. My milk is in and I think she may be having a hard time adjusting to the quantity and how much faster it is coming. I also didn’t want to use pacifiers with her, to avoid nipple confusion. My parents thought that was silly and decided to give her one yesterday a few times. Of course, she loved it.
But then the trouble began. I don’t know if it’s related to the paci or not but she had the hardest time nursing. She would latch correctly then pull back and get upset. If I tried to hold her head after she latched she freaked out.
She did a lot better today, though. We decided not to even pick up the pacifier until a few weeks, when she has mastered the art of the booby.
My milk has come in like CRAZY. These things HURT. I already started pumping to help relieve the pressure. I’ve lost 17lbs, not bad. I keep googling all kinds of breastfeeding questions I have. We had such an easy time at the hospital but, now that we are home and my milk is in, she isn’t nursing as long. She went from four hours a day at the hospital to about 2.5 at home. She is making more dirty diapers, though. Anyone have advice on this? I’m constantly whipping it out and trying to inspire her but she will only really eat when she is hungry.
She loves her swing (and so do I… we refer to it as the ‘robo nanny’), mobile, and the baby carrier I received Sergio — everyone needs an awesome friend like him! She had her first baby bath today. It’s wild how different she looks in one day. She is so beautiful! I can’t believe this amazing little person came out of my body!
