I think all of my friends would agree I’m not a political person and I have a strong distaste for government in general.  I’m still trying to hide the fact from my parents that there’s an anarchy & equality tattoo somewhere on my body.  That’ll be an interesting conversation one day.  My dad is an ultra conservative and says some pretty insane things about politics (and other subjects, as you may know), holds some outlandish beliefs, and usually chooses to back the candidates I couldn’t fathom supporting.  He’s a big Gingrich fan, currently.  However, in the past, he’s loved Bachmann, for religious reasons.

I woke up this morning to my father telling me how amazing Gingrich was last night.  The debate highlights started playing and they showed his “best” quotes of the night— these are supposed to be real zingers— and I was semi-interested in hearing what this man, who I particularly dislike, had to say.  The first clip they showed was him saying this, “Andrew Jackson has a pretty clear idea about America’s enemies.  Kill them.”  I mean… this was one of his big points.  The point that we should just kill anyone and everyone who opposes us.  No, not even opposes us— anyone who is our “enemy”.  I couldn’t believe this was 1. said on national television and 2. shown as a highlight!

I can’t believe what politics is/ has become.  Or can I?  It’s such a joke!  These are supposed to be the brightest, most elite, intelligent people in the country— people who have enough financial and social support to become the leader of a country… and this is what we have to choose from?  It’s pretty disgusting.  Anyway, I hate talking politics and I’ve given up on government a long time ago but I just felt the need to rant a bit.
